St Moriz Self Tanning Mousse

Hellloooo,

As someone with fairly pale skin, I’ve tried various fake tans over the years in an attempt to give my skin a healthy glow. However, more often than not I have been left with a streaky, orange mess rather than the bronzed goddess look that I was after! I also struggled to find a tan that didn’t cost a fortune as I go through it at a fairly quick rate and couldn’t afford to keep using more expensive brands such as Fake Bake and St Tropez.

I first tried St Moriz a couple of years ago whilst I was at uni but was put off when I used the spray and got it all over the bathroom wall and floor and had to spend ages scrubbing it off :( However, I decided to give it another try when the mousse version came out and I have to say I’m really glad I did.

At around £2.99 a bottle, St Moriz is the cheapest fake tan I have tried and it is also one of the best.  I use a tanning mit to apply the tan so that I avoid the dreaded orange hands nightmare and find that the tan goes on more evenly when using a mit as well. I love the flawless, natural and non-streaky complexion I am left with after using this product and the colour of the tan is not in the slightest bit orange. The tan fades naturally rather than going patchy and you can also make it last longer by moisturising regularly.

The only negatives I can think of are that there is a slight ‘biscuit’ tan smell when you apply the product but this disappears after a shower. I have also found that quite a bit of colour does wash off in the shower so if I am wanting a deeper tan I apply two coats or use the dark option.
Overall I would highly recommend the St Moriz Self Tanning Mousse. I know it’s been around for a while now but I wanted to blog about my experience with this product as I was a bit sceptical at first with it being so cheap.  I also wasn’t that keen on the spray version but after one application of the mousse I was hooked and definitely think it’s worth trying if you haven’t already.

Have any of you guys used the St Moriz tan? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this product or if you’ve found any other great, purse friendly fake tans:)

1970's Disco Makeup

Hi everyone!
To continue with my ‘Makeup Through the Years’ series I thought I would take a look at makeup from the 1970’s in today’s post.
Disco music had a huge influence on makeup in this era with shimmery eyeshadows and frosty lipsticks being hugely popular. I love the 1970’s look as it is just so bright and colourful and great for a disco night out! If you fancy recreating this look yourself here are a few tips and tricks to help achieve the perfect disco look :)
                                             Face
In the 1970’s, women strived to achieve a look of natural beauty and for the first time skin care routines became essential in order to accomplish a flawless complexion. The bronzed goddess look was hugely popular but tans were still kept natural. Clinique’s True Bronze Pressed Powder Bronzer is great for getting a subtle, healthy glow and is easy to blend and build up to get the level of bronze you are looking for. Peach and rosy pink were the colours of choice for blusher in this decade; I love Pink Cloud from Natural Collection and Nars blusher in Sex Appeal for this look.

                                  Eyes
Bright, shimmery eyeshadows in blues and greens were applied for nights out and white eyeliner was often used to make eyes stand out even more. Black liner continued to be popular too and women would often smudge the liner out to get a smoky eye effect.  Avon’s Glimmerstick eyeliner in Black Ice contains small specks of glitter which is fab for a night out and creating a disco look. Urban Decay do some great eyeshadows for this look too; my favourites include Green Goddess (darkish green) and Summer of Love (bright blue).
Lips
Frosty pinks and peach shades were popular choices of lip colour during the 70’s with lots of lip gloss added for that extra shine. Revlon’s Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting teamed with Avon lip gloss in Sugar Cane gives a great frosty pale pink finish. If you’re going for peaches, Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Nude Pink and Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss in Peach Petal are fab.
The 70’s was all about disco and this look is one that you can be creative with. For a little extra glitz, add glitter to your cheeks or eyes for even more shimmer and sparkle. Barry M Dazzle Dust comes in a huge range of different colours and won’t break the bank :)
Have any of you guys recreated a 70’s disco look? Which products did you use to help turn you into a disco diva?

Thanks for reading,

October She Said Beauty Box Review

Hi everyone,
Today hadn’t been the best day but I was cheered up when I arrived home from work to find this month’s She Said Beauty Box had been delivered :) So I thought I would write a quick post on the contents of the October box and my thoughts on what was included.
   Amy Childs Perfume Sample
I’m afraid to say I’m not a huge fan of this perfume as it is quite a strong and musky scent and I usually go for more light and floral fragrances. Maybe it’s just me but I do also get put off when you have to pour the perfume out of the bottle onto your skin; I much prefer it when samples have the spray top as I think it is so much easier to use. That might just be me being fussy though!
B.liv Off With Those Heads
I am really interested to try this product and if it works then I will be very impressed! I tend to get a very oily t-zone so I am hoping that this product will help keep my skin under control and less shiny during the day. I will let you guys know if I think ‘Off With Those Heads’ is worth a try!
Biao Beauty Rejuvenating Night Creme
I think this might be one that gets passed on to my mum as I am trying to cut down on the amount of skincare products that I use on my skin at the moment. I felt like I was doing my skin more harm than good by overloading it with different lotions and potions so I have now reduced it to the basics and I feel my skin has been much better for it.
Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque
I was a bit disappointed with the size of this sample and don’t think I’ll get much of an idea of how good it is from the small amount provided. Having said that, I am currently looking for a new and effective face scrub so I am happy to give it a try and it smells delicious too!
Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula
I have the Palmers Cocoa Butter lip balm which I absolutely love and have always wanted to try the body lotion so I was very pleased to see it in this month’s She Said box. I wasn’t disappointed when I tried this product as my skin was left feeling lovely and soft and the smell is gorgeous too :)
Myvitamins, Essential Vitamin D3
This was a She Said bonus item in this month’s box. I’ve tried taking vitamins a few times in the past but it usually only lasts a couple of days before I start forgetting to take them. I like that She Said include bonus treats as I feel that you are getting that bit more value for money and it’s just a nice little extra touch :)
Overall I wasn’t blown away with the October She Said box and thought some of the samples were a bit on the small side. I am coming to the end of my subscription with only a couple of months left and can’t decide whether I will renew or not. If there are any other beauty boxes that you would recommend I would love to hear your thoughts :)
Hope you enjoyed reading,
BBx
