New York Sephora Haul

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the missing Wednesday blog post this week! After being away I have just been catching up with things and have been a bit out of schedule but hopefully I should be back to normal from now on.

So you can’t go to New York and not go shopping and let me tell you I took full advantage of all the shops and brands over there, especially the ones that we can’t get here in the UK. Being a beauty lover for the most part I spent my money on makeup and went slightly crazy in Sephora, Target, Ricky’s and Duane Reade, so much so that I have decided to split my haul post into two parts; a Sephora haul and a high street product haul. Today I am starting with Sephora :)

Sephora was pretty much the first shop I went in when we hit Fifth Avenue on the first day of our holiday. I had a list a mile long of things that I wanted to buy but these are the products that made it onto my basket.

Cover FX Custom Cover Drops – so far I absolutely love these drops which you add to your foundation, primer, and moisturiser etc to increase coverage and change the colour to create your own custom product. I had seen them on a few blogs and on YouTube and I’m so glad that I picked them up as I have never tried anything like them before.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector – I use this after primer and before foundation to give my skin a lovely glow. I almost bought a similar product from Clarins before I went away but I’m so glad I didn’t as I can’t imagine liking it more than this product.

Sephora Lustre Matte Long Wear Lip Colour in Petal Lustre – I was immediately drawn to the colour of this lip product which is a gorgeous matte pinky purple shade. I have been looking for a lip gloss or lipstick in a shade like this for a while now so was so happy to come across it in Sephora.

Sephora lip gloss in Coral Confession – I have had a couple of Sephora lip glosses in the past with a favourite of mine being Miami Pink but this time I decided to go for the shade Coral Confession which I think will be perfect for summer.

Sephora Airbrush Sponge – The miniature products by the till got me with this one but I have found it great for applying foundation and concealer.

Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar – I have wanted to try this moisturiser for ages now after hearing amazing things about it and it hasn’t disappointed! I only bought the travel sized version to try it out but I will definitely be splashing out on the full sized option when this one is finished.

Tarte Lights Camera, Lashes mascara – This mascara was also on my list as I had seen it raved about online but I’m actually undecided on it. It seems a little clumpy to me but I’m going to try it for a bit longer before making a final decision on it.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser - Although I tried to stick to buying mostly products that aren’t available in the UK, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser somehow made it into my shopping basket. This has been on my wish list for so long and it works fab with the Cover FX drops when I want a bit more coverage.

Bite Agave Lip Mask - This was the product on my shopping list that I wanted to get the most and so I got two to stock up! I absolutely love it apart from the fact that one of them has split at the bottom so when you squeeze it the lip balm comes out of both ends!

Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water – I am running out of Bioderma so decided to try the Sephora offering for a change. I haven’t used this yet but have high hopes for it when I do.

Sephora Small Stippling Brush and Domed Stippling Brush – I am a bit addicted to collecting makeup brushes at the moment so I bought two whilst I was away. I like the small stippling brush for applying concealer and the domed brush for foundation. I do really like them but have found that they shed quite a bit when I use them so I just hope this doesn’t get any worse with time.

And that’s everything I bought at Sephora! I could have spent thousands in there as there was so much that I wanted to buy but as I don’t have thousands to spare I had to restrain myself! For now I am really pleased with the products that I picked up and look out for more full reviews coming up after I have tested them for a bit longer!

Have you tried any of the products from my haul? Which products would you recommend from Sephora?

Pictures from New York

Hi everyone,

If you follow me on Twitter or have read my blog before you may know that for the last couple of weeks I have been on holiday in New York with my boyfriend. It’s somewhere that we have always wanted to go and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We had such an amazing time and got to see and do so much and I hope we can go back again someday soon! In the meantime though I thought it would be nice to share a few of the photographs from our trip.

I hope you enjoyed the photos! If you have any New York related blog posts please leave your links in the comments below as I'd love to take a look. I'm suffering from a serious case of post holiday blues at the moment and love reminiscing about our time there!

Top 5 Mascaras

Top 5 Mascaras

Hi everyone,

Today I am continuing my ‘top 5’ series with a list of my favourite mascaras. I have to confess that most of them are higher end but I am very fussy when it comes to mascara as I want the full works; I want my mascara to lengthen, volumise and provide fuller, false looking lashes! So here are the ones which make the cut for me ……

This mascara has remained at the top spot as my all-time favourite mascara for a good few years now and although I’ve dabbled with many others I always end up coming back to this one. For me it does exactly what the name suggests and gives me full, dramatic lashes like no other and although it isn’t cheap, I definitely think it is worth the £22.50 price tag.

Since its release earlier this year Roller Lash has quickly become a firm favourite amongst bloggers and YouTubers and has had so much hype surrounding it. I love how much length and curl this mascara gives and it is only a very close second to Hypnose Drama. I think the Lancôme option just pips it to the post as I feel it gives more volume than this one but there’s really not a lot in it.

I truly thought that this was just going to be another gimmicky product and couldn’t see how it would make that much difference to using a normal mascara on my bottom lashes as well as my top ones. Having read many rave reviews about it though I decided to give it a try and I have never looked back since. I’m currently on my fourth or fifth tube of this and can see myself repurchasing it again and again.

I first tried this mascara when I received it in a Clinique Bonus Time gift set and I’ll be honest in saying that I wasn’t really expecting much from it. I’m not sure why this was as I love the bottom lash mascara so much but I just hadn’t really heard much about it. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised though and whenever I wear this mascara I get so many compliments on my lashes. It manages to make them look full, long and voluminous all in one and give that real fluttery look.

The cheapest of the lot and my favourite high street mascara is Maybelline Falsies. This one is really good at getting the length but I feel it lacks in the volume department. For the price though I definitely think this mascara deserves its place in my top 5 as I have rebought it many times and have yet to find a high street mascara that I like as much as this one.

Which mascaras would make it into your top 5? Have you tried any of my favourites?
