Lilac Homeware

Lilac Homeware

Hi everyone,

All being well in a couple of weeks my boyfriend and I should be moving house! We rent at the moment but have decided the time is right to buy a house together so of course I have been nonstop googling homeware ever since! I am undecided on colour themes at the moment and have just been getting ideas together but I really like the colour lilac and think it could be a strong possibility for at least one room in the house. With that in mind I have put together a few of my favourite lilac / purple things that I have come across. Hope you enjoy :)

What colour schemes do you like? Where do like to shop for homeware?

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eyeshadows in Rose Gold and Moonlight

Hi everyone,

I have had my eye on the By Terry Ombre Blackstar eyeshadow sticks for so long but was really reluctant to pay the £29 price tag. Since these have been on my wish list however, I have noticed many other brands that have similar products and a couple of weeks ago I finally took the plunge and splashed out on the Laura Mercier offering.

At £22 each the Caviar Stick Eye Colours aren’t much cheaper than the By Terry ones but every penny counts! The shades in the range are all so pretty but I eventually decided on Rose Gold which is as it sounds, a lovely shimmery rose gold colour, and Moonlight which is a metallic bronze / taupe shade. I think both colours are so pretty and they work well both on their own and blended out or used together to create a delicate smoky eye.

The formula of the sticks is lovely and creamy and they glide on so smoothly and effortlessly making them super easy to work with. I’m not usually the best with eyeshadows as they aren’t something that I actually wear that often but even I found these really easy to use. They blend fantastically well but then seem to set in place and don’t budge for hours. I was worried that they would fade quickly or crease with being a cream product but I had no trouble with this at all and they even lasted me through a very late girl’s night out recently!

For someone that tends to shy away from eyeshadow like me then these are a fantastic buy. They are so quick and easy to use so great if you’re in a rush and want to create a gorgeous look without spending too much time on it. I will definitely be looking at purchasing more shades in the range and currently have my eye on Cocoa as I think this colour will work well with Rose Gold and Moonlight to create a more intense smoky eye.

Have you tried the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eyeshadows? Did you like them or do you prefer others that are out there?

NOTD Barry M Sunset Gel Nail Polish in For The Stars

Hi everyone,

Now if there is one product that I don’t need any more of then it’s nail polishes! I have so many that I often only use them once before they dry up and go off and then it’s off to the rubbish bin they go. However, I was so intrigued when I saw the new Barry M Sunset Gel Daylight Curing range that I couldn’t resist and had to give them a try.

The Sunset Gel range claims to provide professional looking, gel like nails without the need for a UV lamp. You simply have to apply two coats of the nail colour, wait for it to dry and then use the Sunset Topcoat which will cure naturally in daylight. This is then meant to give you longer lasting and super shiny nails that can still be taken off with regular nail polish remover.

I chose the colour For The Stars which is a bright, summery coral shade that I just love. I found the formula a little difficult to work with and had to apply it with patience to make sure that it didn’t look too streaky. Having said that I have used much worse and it wasn’t as tough to apply as some that I have tried out recently. I then applied the topcoat which will only work with the Barry M Sunset Gel polishes and waited for it to dry.

I guess I was expecting my nails to look like they had just had a gel manicure but unfortunately I couldn’t really see any difference from when I used just a normal polish and topcoat. To me they weren’t any shiner and they weren’t any more chip resistant either. Nail polishes tend to last a while on me as I have acrylic nails but they do start to chip slightly around the edges after a few days and this polish was no exception to that. I also noticed some small bubbles on four of my nails which seemed strange.

Overall I really like the colour of this nail polish and would by others in the range if I liked the shade of them too. I bought them on offer at two for £7 which was a good price but the usual £4.99 price tag isn’t bad either. I wouldn’t buy them solely for any of the additional qualities they claim to offer as I don’t think they can compare with a proper gel manicure.

Have you tried any polishes from this range? Did you see any difference to a normal nail polish?
