L'oréal Colour Riche Le Gloss in 152 Nude Touch Review

Hi everyone,

Firstly, apologies for my lack of blogging this last week! My boyfriend and I finally got the keys to our house and ever since my life has been taken over with work and decorating. We have made really good progress though so I’m hoping to be able to fit more blogging in from now on.

Anyway, on to today’s post. It’s very rare that I come across a product that I just don’t like in any way, shape or form. There’s usually something positive to comment on and I nearly always get some use out of the products that I buy, but unfortunately the same can’t be said for the L’orĂ©al Colour Riche Le Gloss.

I bought this lip gloss whilst I was in New York as I hadn’t seen them here in the UK before and I’m a sucker for lip products in general. I don’t own many nude shades and tend to always get drawn towards the pink and red options so this time I thought I would go against the grain and went for shade 152 Nude Touch. As there are no testers in American drugstores I always find it difficult to pick and unsure of what the formula and colour is like so for me it was just a bit of a stab in the dark with this one.

As you can probably tell from the photo the formula is really runny and was already dripping down my hand by the time I had picked up the camera. If left a while between uses this only seems to get worse and I had a sort of watery liquid come out of the tube before the actual colour. The worst thing about it for me however, is the smell! I have no idea what it is but it puts me off using this gloss completely as I just can’t stand it. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is but I wish you could smell it through this blog as I’ve never smelt anything like it. It reminds me of a sort of burnt plastic smell which is just awful. Not much can be said for the staying power either as it comes off so quickly, probably due to the watery formula.

If I have to think of a positive, the shade I chose is OK and is a medium, pink nude colour and it’s by no means a sticky gloss. As you can probably tell from this post though I won’t be buying any more glosses from this range and the one I have won’t be getting much use either. I have never really had any complaints with L’orĂ©al products before so I’m surprised by how much I disliked the Colour Riche Le Gloss. Maybe I just got one that had gone off??

Have you tried this lip gloss before? What did you think of it?

Thanks for reading,

Product Empties

Hi everyone!

I have never done an empties post before, mostly because I always forget to save the empty packaging! However, recently quite a few things that I have been using have all run out at the same time and I have actually remembered to photograph the products before I throw them away this time. So here are the products that I have managed to get to the end of (usually I get bored half way through and try something different) and what I thought of them.

1) Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan in Medium Matte

I have gone through bottles and bottles of this stuff this summer! I have been using this a lot to tan my legs in particular as I have been wearing a lot of dresses to work and it’s been far too warm for tights. I love the natural golden glow it gives my skin and it’s so easy to apply. The only downside I have found is that although it claims to be transfer resistant, I do find it rubs off onto my clothes and things if I’m not careful. It also claims to be water resistant but in the rain it ran like nobody’s business and I was left with a streaky mess.

2)  Dot perfume by Marc Jacobs

I actually won this perfume when I won Employee of the Month at work a while ago and I’m sad I have come to the end of it as I really liked it. Marc Jacobs perfumes are some of my favourites and I always love the extravagant bottles which look so pretty on a dressing table. This fragrance includes notes of red berries, dragonfruit and honeysuckle with a heart of jasmine, coconut water and orange blossom before concluding with notes of vanilla, driftwood and musk. I think it’s a lovely summer scent and one that I would definitely want to repurchase.

3)  Clinique High Impact Mascara

This was a sample sized free gift that I got from Clinique but I have had this mascara before and I would definitely buy it again. This is one that I don’t hear very much about in the blogging world but I don’t know why as I think it’s fab. It provides volume and length without clumping or smudging and will last through a long day at work which is always my ultimate test!

4)  Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

I have been using this concealer for under my eyes and it has quickly become a firm favourite. It completely covers any dark circles you have whilst making your skin look healthy and more radiant and it won’t crease or slide off throughout the day either. I have tried a few under eye concealers recently including Rimmel Wake Me Up, Avon Magix Multi-Benefit Illuminator and Revlon Photo Ready Eye Primer and Brightener, but this is by far my favourite and most used.

5)  Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara

I won’t go on too much about this one as you can read a full review of it here. I have reached the end of this mascara but I’m not sure it is one I would buy again as I found it to be a bit hit and miss.

And that’s everything! I hope you enjoyed my first empties post and please feel free to leave a comment telling me what you thought of it. Also leave a link to any of your empties posts as I’d love to take a look.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend! I have been a bit preoccupied as we got the keys to our new house on Friday! We aren’t moving in straight away as there are a few things we want to do to it first but it’s so exciting! We have spent the day today going round different furniture and carpet shops and I can’t wait to get everything sorted and get moved in.

Anyway on to today’s review which is a look at the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector. I am actually a bit late to the party with this one as I hadn’t heard of it until fairly recently but I had been looking for a product like this for a long time. I wanted something that would give my skin a lovely, natural glow but wouldn’t leave me looking greasy or sweaty or anything like that. Then when I was in Sephora, I saw the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector and thought it looked like it would do just the trick.

I have been using this product as a base, under my foundation to give my skin a gorgeous glow and make it just look healthier and in better condition. There are five shades to choose from ranging from the lightest which is Pearl to a darker toned shade called Topaz, each with either a golden or pink undertone. I went for the shade Moonstone which is a lovely, pale golden colour as I thought it matched my skin tone the best.

At first I was slightly worried that it was going to look too obvious as it does contain quite a lot of shimmer and I didn’t want it to be really noticeable. I was going for more of a subtle and natural glow to my skin and didn’t want it to look too over the top. Thankfully I got what I was hoping for and my skin just looked extra nice and glowing rather than glittery or greasy.

As I have fairly oily skin, particularly along my t-zone, I was concerned that as the day went on my makeup would slide off more easily having used a product like this or the dewy look would turn drastically wrong and into a greasy mess throughout the day. I needn’t have been worried though as it didn’t affect the longevity of my makeup at all. I can’t say that I noticed it helping my makeup stay in place longer but I feel like Double Wear is hard to budge anyway.

The product isn’t too thick or heavy and blends really well into the skin. I don’t think I would wear it on its own as it does look a bit much when you first apply it. However, once you have got your foundation over the top it is much more natural and gives a pretty and refreshing glow to your makeup look. As I mentioned, I have been using the Skin Perfector mainly under my foundation but there are so many ways to use it. I think I am going to try adding a little to a body moisturiser and using on my legs and arms for a nice glow this summer as well as using it over my foundation as a highlighter.

Overall the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector is a huge hit for me and although it is a little pricey at £33, I definitely think it is worth it. I only bought the 30ml travel sized version but a little goes a long way with this one so I can imagine it lasting a very long time.

Have you tried the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector? What are your thoughts on it? Which other Becca products would you recommend?
