February Favourites 2016

Hi everyone,

I have been meaning to do a favourites post for the last few months but then the end of the month rolls round quicker than I expected and I’ve already scheduled a ton of posts, so in the end I don’t end up doing it! For February though, I planned it in advance as there are a few products that I have really enjoyed using and wanted to share :)

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish had been on my wish list forever and I finally got my hands on it for Christmas last year. I love how easily it removes my makeup and even really stubborn eye makeup comes off in no time. My skin also feels lovely and soft after I have used it which is no mean feat at the moment with my skin being so dry. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes I’m feeling really lazy and like to just use a quick face wash or scrub whilst I’m in the shower instead but that really is just me being super lazy!

Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Daydream

Recently I have found myself thinking that my makeup collection would benefit from more nude shades as more often than not I am drawn towards the pink and red colours. I have had my eye on this lipgloss for a while but wasn’t sure if the colour would suit me very much. I’m so glad that I bought it though as it is perfect for every day or when you have done something a bit more dramatic with your eye makeup. I have to be careful not to apply too much as I don’t think it suits me when I pile it on but one sweep gives me the perfect nude, natural lip colour.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder

I won’t go on about this one too much as I have recently written a full review on it which you can read here. All I will say is that this product is one of my most favourite products that I have bought recently and even though it costs a small fortune, it is worth every penny. I have used it pretty much every day in February and will definitely be looking to buy it in some of the other shades that are available.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

Have I mentioned that my skin has been dry recently? You’re probably sick of me going on about it but that is why the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser has been a favourite product of mine during February. I have been exfoliating well but my foundation has still been clinging in areas that are particularly bad so I decided to try mixing in a little tinted moisturiser to see if it would help. It has worked a little bit and it looks better than just the foundation on its own. Although it doesn’t last quite as long on my skin, I have found that it’s better to powder a couple of times throughout the day that have dry patches covered in foundation everywhere!

Marks and Spencer La Maison De Senteurs Body Wash

I’m not usually too fussy about which body wash or shower gels I use but this is one of the few that I think is worth a mention. I’ve tried a couple in the range now but my favourite scent has got to be the Fleur d’ Orangier which is lovely and fresh and my skin always feels softer after I have used it. There are also candles, hand washes and body lotions amongst other things available in this scent, some of which I have tried and others I haven’t yet but will definitely need adding to my wish list!

NOTD OPI Big Apple Red

Hi everyone,

Red nails are such a classic look and for me, OPI Big Apple Red is just the perfect shade. It’s a bright, pillar box red colour and it just makes me feel so glamourous and polished every time I wear it. I like wearing the gel version where possible to get that extra shine or adding a bit of sparkle with some glitter on an accent finger. I think the gold goes really well, especially if you’re heading on a night out or somewhere special.

I have not worn red nails for quite a long time and had forgotten how much I like them. In winter I tend to stick to darker reds or purples so I have been trying to branch out into some brighter options recently. That's what has lead me to rediscovering my love of a red manicure and today's post. I also love teaming them with a bright red lipstick such as MaxFactor’s Cherry Kiss or Rimmel Kate Moss 110 for added glamour!

What’s your favourite nail and lip combo? Do you often wear red?

Empties!

Hi everyone,

I don’t often do empties posts for the simple reason that I always forget to keep the empty packaging and end up throwing it away. I have made an extra effort over the last few weeks though to remember and I have finally accumulated enough things for this post.

Nutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Face Scrub

I had actually forgotten I had bought this face scrub and found it buried at the back of my cupboard a few weeks ago. Pink grapefruit is one of my favourite scents so this was a winner with me from the get go for the smell alone, but it’s also great for providing gentle exfoliation. I have quite dry skin at the moment and it didn’t get rid of all the dry patches but it did help keep it at bay as I could use it daily. I wouldn’t say it reduced my spots at all however, but for a good, cheap face scrub it was OK.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Hydrating Toner

Due to my skin being so dry recently, I have switched a lot of my products to ones which are more hydrating and this toner has been really good. I have already bought my next bottle as teamed with the Visible Difference Hydrating Cleanser, it has helped keep my skin from completely drying out. If anyone has any recommendations for products for dry skin though I would love to hear about them. My skin was always oily but this winter it has done a complete u-turn and become really dry and quite uncomfortable in certain areas.

Lancôme Hypnôse Drama mascara

This is one of my all-time favourite mascaras and have made my way through many a tube of it! I love how it makes my lashes look longer and fuller without any clumping so it’s one that I always go back to. It is a little pricey at £22.50 a pop which is why I don’t buy it every time I need a new mascara, but when I feel like treating myself it’s always my go to one.

Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water

I’m so happy I bought two bottles of this but I’m going to be gutted when the second one runs out. It’s about time a Sephora was opened here in the UK! This cleansing water removes makeup easily and gently to leave skin feeling fresh and clean. I love the pump top as well so I might even keep the empty bottle and fill it with a different micellar water!

Benefit Gimme Brow

I am going through these like there’s no tomorrow at the moment which isn’t good when they are £18.50 each. I just love how quick and easy they are to use and the natural look they give my brows. The darker option is also the perfect shade for me at the minute and when I use anything different I just don’t feel that it gives the same look.

Have you tried any of these products? Which products do you always repurchase?
