NOTD OPI Dutch Tulips

Hi everyone,

This week is one of the busiest for me work wise so apologies for the absence around and about! I am hoping things will start to calm down again now so that I can get back on track! In light of how crazy it has been, this week is just a quick post to share with you this gorgeous true red nail polish from OPI. It’s called Dutch Tulips and it almost immediately became my new favourite red nail polish. I love the formula of OPI and find them really easy to work with as well as being super long lasting. I know they are a little more on the pricey side, especially if you are looking to buy the gel version as I have, but I definitely think they are worth it. I have added a little gold glitter to my thumbs and ring fingers which may seem a bit festive but I love it!

Next week I shall be back with my review of the new bareMinerals BarePro foundation. I hope you’re all having a fab weekend.

Dove Style and Care Heat Protect Spray

Hi everyone,

This was a something that I bought completely on a whim a couple of weeks ago as it seemed like a much cheaper version of the Trevor Sorbie Straight, Protect and Shine Spray which I usually use. I am very fussy about my heat protectors as I like one that I can use on dry hair but a lot of them tend to weigh my hair down and make it look a greasy mess. Therefore, I don’t often try a lot of new ones anymore, thinking if it isn’t broke why fix it. Curiosity got the better of me in this instance though and at only £1.99 I thought it was worth giving a try.

Initially, I was a little disappointed by the spray pump as it doesn’t seem to spray evenly and comes out in a bit of an annoying, low pressure squirt. Maybe I just got one with a dodgy pump this time but it’s one of my pet hates so it did put me off a little. On the plus side, I was pleased that my hair didn’t feel weighed down or look greasy at all with using the spray. I have curly hair which is quite straw like at times but this product made it feel a lot softer and smoother which is something that I wasn’t expecting and a nice surprise.

I have been using the Style and Care Spray for a couple of weeks now and I do think it has helped protect my hair when using heat, although I do find this difficult to test thoroughly. My hair dries out quite quickly when I don’t use any products to help protect it, particularly at the ends, and this hasn’t happened as much recently.

The scent of the spray is another plus as I don’t really like the smell of the Trevor Sorbie one. For some reason, I wasn’t expecting it to have much of a scent but this one is actually really nice, although I find it difficult to describe what it is! I think I would just say that it's quite fresh and mostly like shampoo or clean hair!

Overall, I would re-purchase the Dove Style and Care Heat Protect Spray but only if I could get it for £1.99 again. I bought it from Bodycare but have since seen it at Boots for £4.59 which is almost as much as the Trevor Sorbie spray at £5.70.

Have you tried the Dove Style and Care Replenishment and Heat Protect Spray? Which other similar products would you recommend?

Collective Beauty Haul

Hi everyone,

Recently I have been in the mood for shopping quite a lot and have picked up a few things that I thought I would share with you guys. Some of the things I bought online a couple of weeks ago and some I got last weekend in Liverpool. I’ll be testing them out over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for a few reviews coming up :)

So here’s me going on about my skin again but Boots recently had a buy one get one free offer on their Tea Tree and Witch Hazel skincare range. I picked up the foaming face wash, back spray, exfoliator and pore strips to try out. I have never come across a back spray before and I don’t actually really get spots on my back but seeing as it was on offer and it’s something I haven’t used before, I thought I would give it a try. I also bought from Boots a new Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (review here). This must be about my tenth tube of this so beware if you haven’t tried it before and want to give it a go, you will never be able to go back once you’ve started using it!

Not satisfied with the things I had bought from Boots, I then went on the place a Superdrug order. I wanted to stock up on my Sunkissed tan which I have been obsessed with recently (you can check out a review here if you want to know more) and also I needed a new mascara. I went for Maybelline The Falsies and as it was buy one get one half price also Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama which I haven’t tried before.

For the next part of my shopping escapades, last weekend my boyfriend organised a lovely day out including some shopping in Liverpool. Much to his annoyance, I spent quite a while in Boots where I finally got my hands on shade 1 of the Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer. I found shade 2 a while ago but this lighter option has always been out of stock whenever I have been in Boots or Superdrug so I was so happy to finally track one down!

My eye was also drawn to BareMinerals which a brand I have been meaning to try for such a long time. However, as a loyal Double Wear customer, I have always been concerned that I just wouldn’t be happy with the level of coverage from a mineral foundation. The assistant at the counter sat me down and talked me through the products and I eventually found myself persuaded to folk out the £27 for the new BarePro foundation. I didn’t buy the brush that is meant to go with it as that would have been a further £24 and I couldn’t see that there wouldn’t be one in my collection already that would do the same job. I will let you guys know how I get on with it in a few weeks when I have had chance to test it out properly but I’m hoping I’m not going to be disappointed.

Finally the last couple of things I picked up were a replacement Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder and the new Dove Style and Care Spray. I actually don’t need a new heat protecting spray but was intrigued as to whether or not this one could match up to the Trevor Sorbie Straight, Protect and Shine Spray that I usually use and love.

Phew.. and that’s everything! I can’t wait to get started in trying out these products and have high hopes that they’ll all prove to be good buys. Have you guys done much shopping recently? What have you been buying?

Hannah xx
